Etymology: Blend of Castro (referring to Fidel Castro, Cuban revolutionary and leader) + enteritis (inflammation of the intestine, here used metaphorically to suggest geopolitical agitation).

Definition: A figurative term describing the intense, periodic geopolitical agitation within the United States’ ruling establishment, characterised by a fervent push to invade a third-world country, overthrow its authoritarian leader (often a minor dictator, the more colourful, personality-wise, the better), and realign the nation within the U.S. sphere of influence.

Example: The senator’s fiery speech on the need to topple the regime sparked a fresh bout of Castroenteritis in Washington, urging military action.
