Etymology: Blend of Trump (referring to Donald Trump, 45th and 47th U.S. President) + democratic + election.
Definition: A phenomenon in which left-of-centre Western governments, either unpopular with voters or performing adequately but not exceptionally,unexpectedly retain power or win decisively in elections, driven by voter anger over the trade policies and robustly nationalistic geopolitical stance of the second Trump administration(2025–).
Example: Despite trailing in the polls, the centre-left coalition secured a Trumpocratic election victory, as voters rallied against the tariff wars initiated by Washington.
